ABOUT SOAPSTONE
Soapstone, also known as steatite, is a beautiful natural stone quarried in several regions around the world. Because it contains the mineral talc, it has a soft feel and is generally about a 3 on the Mohs scale. This is a similar hardness to marble, but softer than quartz or granite.

Soapstone is a durable, heat-resistant, and non-porous stone ideal for kitchen countertops, sinks, backsplashes, bathroom vanities, and showers. It is also favored for fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and garden features due to its heat and weather resistance.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Soapstone is heat-resistant, but it should be protected from sudden temperature changes to prevent cracking. Clean it with warm water and mild soap, and oil it periodically to enhance its color and prevent drying. Unlike other stones, it doesn’t require sealing, but regular oiling helps maintain its smooth appearance.
