Design was always in my blood. Growing up in a family-owned business and attending the high point international furniture market since I was five instilled a deep love for design. My journey has been eclectic; from theatre and fashion to interior design – I cherish every project and client relationship.

Meet Robyn Branch, the founder and creative force behind the award-winning Amelia Island Design Studio and By-Appointment-Only Showroom, established in 2007. With offices on Amelia Island, Florida, and in Charleston, South Carolina, Robyn’s firm is celebrated as one of the premier design firms in the Southeast. Robyn’s journey into design began at a young age, growing up in North Carolina as the daughter of furniture store owners, attending her first High Point International Market at just five years old. Her diverse background in theatre, fashion, and set design has shaped her unique, artful approach to interior design. Robyn is a CAPS Certified Aging in Place Specialist and an Associate ASID Member, known for her fearless exploration of new products and dedication to delivering beautifully curated spaces.

Q: Tell us a little about your background.

A: My foundation is in theatre and design, having dedicated 35 years to dance and choreography, while integrating set and costume design. A seven-year tenure in fashion complemented this experience. Design is a family legacy; I frequented the High Point International Furniture Market from the tender age of five, courtesy of our family business. Additionally, I supported my sister in sales and designing model homes for a track home builder. Retirement was brief for me; within months, I launched a home boutique. The 2008 market downturn demanded ingenuity. Already serving designers and clients, I embraced interior design full-time to sustain my venture. Despite initial challenges, my business flourished. ASID has been instrumental in mastering the design industry and propelling my business forward.

Q: What style do you like to design the most?

A: It’s hard to choose! I have a passion for many styles and am often described as electric, bohemian, transitional, and modern. Though I have a good grasp of traditional, if pressed to pick, I’d say tribal is my favorite!

Q: Tell us about the photos you submitted and what UMI product is featured.

A: This kitchen showcases the beautiful Infinity Porcelain. The island serves as the focal point for parties and is spacious enough to accommodate an extensive buffet. The fireplace wall, made of a natural marble slab, dominates the space and provides a visual respite.

Q: What project are you most proud of?

A: The St. Kitts Project stands out as our most rewarding endeavor, largely due to our crew. They are like family to us! Their work ethic mirrors ours, with everyone fully committed, never halting, whining, or complaining, even in the most challenging situations. They truly embody the spirit of Spartans, as the saying goes!

Q: What do you enjoy most about UMI?

A: I appreciate the diverse selection of stones and the team I collaborate with. UMI offers a vast array of choices, and the staff possesses a deep understanding of their inventory, which is invaluable to me. Additionally, UMI’s extensive network of fabricators simplifies the process of finding the ideal partner for project collaboration.

Q: What is your favorite product that UMI carries?

A: I LOVE nearly every slab they have to offer! Honestly, I had a rock collection when I was a kid and grew up near a world-class quarry, so I consider myself a real lover of stone. Natural stones are my groove, especially the dark and moody ones. Precioustone Agate brings me joy, especially when backlit, and I have a fondness for semi-precious stones like tiger’s eye.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: My free time is scarce. I enjoy a leisurely Sunday drive, like an old person, but my frequent travels limit these occasions. Beach walks are another favorite pastime of mine.

Q: How can people contact you if they want you to design their home?

A: Our website is a great resource for potential clients, but I love a face-to-face meeting or even a phone call at 904-491-1199!
