Designer Spotlight – Shauna Freeman

Shauna Freeman

“My personal style is little bit boho and a little eclectic so I do love a client who doesn’t shy away from color and pattern!” – Shauna Freeman

Meet Shauna! She is a vibrant soul with a unique background that enables her to bring authenticity within her work. She has been an interior designer for over 12 years in Tampa, Florida, brining a fun flare and vibe to every space she touches. Learn more about her below and check out some of her favorite design projects featuring UMI Stone!

Q: Tell us a little bit about your background.

A: I was born overseas in Bahrain and have family in England and Ireland. My unique upbringing and exposure to different cultures has contributed to the development of my own eclectic style which I use to bring my clients a truly new design perspective. I’ve wanted to be a designer from an early age, I never changed my mind or changed my major. I used to play computer games spending all of my time building and designing the houses in them and then never actually playing with “The Sims” characters. I graduated from Florida State University’s Interior Design program and have been working as a designer in the Tampa Bay Area for 12 years. I’ve worked in various firms working on residential and commercial spaces but mostly specializing in luxury new construction residential.

Q: What style do you like to design the most?

A: I will never tire of a clean, classic and refined transitional style. My personal style is little bit boho and a little eclectic so I do love a client who doesn’t shy away from color and pattern!

Q: What project are you most proud of?

A: They’re all my passion projects, how do I pick just one?! Any project with a happy client at the end of the day radiates a happy home that makes me proud. The building process is long and stressful so we really get to know each other through the years of work. I stopped by a client’s home the other day and a year and a half after the final install day; it looks exactly the same! I’d say that’s a testament to a functional and fabulous interior.

Q: What do you enjoy most about UMI?

A: UMI offers such a great variety of products! It also helps that I don’t have to stand underneath the hot, Florida sun to pick all of my slabs. The website is also super helpful and shows me what slabs are available and where so I have access to as much information as I need before setting up a meeting.

Q: What is your favorite product UMI carries? And favorite color of that product?

A: I have been loving the precious stones lately and integrating some into a current project! They are extremely unique and will really be a statement piece for the home.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: I love my local indoor cycling community! But, as of late I’ve been like everyone else and staying safe and sanitized so I can’t wait to get back on a bike in the future! Much of my free time lately has been spent preparing for the birth of my first child. My husband and I are expecting a little girl around July 4th.

Antolini Agatona Precioustone

Q: Tell us a little about the project image above. What product is featured?

A: The Antolini Agatona precious stone was a perfect fit for a residential bar design. We plan on integrating it as custom back-lit wall panels. This stone was the first thing picked for this area so it truly inspired every other selection for the space.
