What’s Trending in Kitchens + Baths
What countertop and stone trends are you currently seeing most in your projects?
Over the past season, Quartz continues to be the most requested material. We’re seeing more clients choose countertops with pronounced veining and high-contrast patterns. Natural stones like granite and real marble are still chosen for impact, especially in bathrooms or as accent features, but more often in combination with quartz rather than as the sole material. Overall, clients want countertops that are stylish and timeless, but also durable and practical for everyday life. That balance between beauty and performance is driving design decisions on nearly every project we do.
How have homeowner preferences for countertops evolved over the past few years?
Many clients have moved away from laminate and tile toward higher-end materials, with quartz becoming the top choice thanks to its durability, low maintenance, and suitability for Florida’s humid climate. Marble is still popular for luxury applications, especially in bathrooms and accent areas, though many homeowners choose marble-look quartz to avoid staining and etching. Design trends have also shifted. Homeowners are more open to bold colors, dramatic veining, and statement features like waterfall edges, often balancing darker countertops with lighter cabinetry. At the same time, performance matters more than ever, with durability, stain resistance, and ease of care driving many decisions. Overall, countertop choices today reflect a blend of style, functionality, and long-term value tailored to modern lifestyles in Naples.
Do you have a go-to material or stone you gravitate toward most often? What makes it a favorite for your team?
Yes — our go-to material is quartz, and it’s become a favorite for our team for several reasons. From a construction standpoint, quartz offers consistency, durability, and predictability, which helps projects stay on schedule and meet client expectations. It performs exceptionally well in everyday use — it’s non-porous, low maintenance, and resistant to staining — which is exactly what today’s homeowners want. Design-wise, quartz has evolved tremendously, offering everything from subtle, coastal-inspired patterns to bold, marble-look slabs, so we can achieve a high-end aesthetic without sacrificing functionality. We also appreciate the design flexibility it provides for features like waterfall edges, large islands, and integrated backsplashes, while still delivering long-term performance. While we still use natural stone for specific applications, quartz consistently delivers the best balance of beauty, durability, and reliability, making it our most recommended option.
Projects Featuring UMI Stone
Gulf Shore Kitchen
Our inspiration for the Gulf Shore Kitchen was to create a space that feels light, timeless, and connected to its coastal surroundings without leaning too heavily into a themed look. We wanted something that reflected the softness of the Gulf — the natural light, sandy tones, and subtle movement you see in the water.
Material Highlight: Bianco Napoli was a natural choice because its warm white base and gentle veining add depth and character while still keeping the kitchen bright and airy.
Crisp Clean Kitchen
Here we focused on creating a space that is bright, open, and inviting, while seamlessly blending modern luxury with functional living. We aimed to maximize natural light and capitalize on the stunning views, which is reflected in the large windows and light color palette throughout the kitchen.
Material Highlight: Pure White supported the overall aesthetic beautifully. It keeps the space feeling crisp and modern while still allowing other design elements to stand out.
